How Much are Property Taxes in Lee County NC?

 

That's a very common question when considering purchasing a home in Lee County. 

If you're considering relocating to Lee County, you may be living in Sanford, Broadway, Cape Fear, Cameron, Carolina Trace, Deep River, Lemon Springs, Northview, West Pocket, or West Sanford.

When were property values last adjusted (assessed)?

Lee County, reassessed property values on January 1, 2007.  The next revaluation is scheduled for January 1, 2013. While all North Carolina counties are required to conduct revaluations at least once every eight years, Lee County completes one every six years.

Find Out What District Your New Lee County Home is Located In

Ask your real estate agent what district number the property resides in.  Or click on the link below to enter the address and find out the tax district:  Lee County Tax Records site.

This chart shows the 2009/2010 Lee County property tax rates.  If you are relocating to a home inside a town, the tax rate will be slightly higher.  If your new home will be outside of town boundaries, the tax rate can be lower.

How Do I Figure Out What These Lee County Property Tax Numbers Mean?

It's not as confusing as it looks.  The tax rates are based on the assessed value of the home, not the asking price. 

• Divide the assessed value by 100.

• Multiply the result by the combined rate on the right side of the table.

• The result will be your yearly property tax bill, as of 2009.

Where Should I Live to Get the Lowest Property Tax Rate?

As you can see, a City of Sanford location will be the most expensive property tax location in Lee County.  Best bargains are in the variety of fire districts outside of city limits, but property tax rates are very similar amongst the fire districts - thus it won't cost much more to live in West Sanford versus Carolina Trace. 

What County Will My New Home Be In?

When looking at properties, don't take the "city" address for granted - you could be in a different county, with different tax rates, depending on where exactly the property is located.

How Do I Find Out the Assessed Value of My Lee County NC Home?

If there's a particular home that you're considering, you can go directly to the Lee County Tax Records site, type in the address, and see the assessed value of the property.  

What if the Assessed Value of my Lee County NC new home is Different From the Sales Price?

If there is a discrepancy between the assessed value and the asking price of the home or lot, don't be afraid to ask your real estate agent to pull comps for you.  Assessed values are not always aligned well with market values, as assessments are often made several years apart.

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) at the Charlotte Motor Speedway is a popular destination for sports fans.

• The Charlotte Motor Speedway, completed in 1959, sells out the 165,000 available seats
• NASCAR races are usually weekend-long events, with trailer-friendly grounds at the Speedway

Charlotte hosts three NASCAR national series

• The Sprint Cup Series
• The Nationwide Series
• The Camping World Truck Series

Each of these series will occur at least once at the Charlotte Speedway in May and October 2011. The Coca-Cola 600 is held at the Charlotte Speedway, and will occur on May 29, 2011.

Dale Earnhardt, a 2010 Hall of Fame Inductee, won a record seven NASCAR Sprint Cup Championships.

Spend New Year's Day with the Carolina Hurricanes

Watch the Carolina Hurricanes Play the New Jersey Devils January 1, 2011

 

After celebrating New Year's Eve at the First Night Raleigh Acorn Drop, you can bring in the New Year by joining the Carolina Hurricanes as they take on the New Jersey Devils on January 1^st.

• Location: RBC Center in Raleigh
• Time: January 1, 2011 at 7:00pm

This is the first of four games between the Hurricanes and Devils, in the 2010-2011 season. These teams will also play each other on February 8^th, 16^th, and 19^th 2011.

 

In the 2009-2010 season, the Devils won three out of four games against the Hurricanes.

Both teams are in the Eastern Conference. The Carolina Hurricanes play in the Southeast Division, while the New Jersey Devils play in the Atlantic Division.  

 

At this New Year's Day game, you can support the Kids 'N Community Foundation by purchasing a limited edition, New Year's mystery puck, signed by a Carolina Hurricanes player.

There are a total of five holiday pucks for the 2010-2011 season:

• Halloween
• Thanksgiving
• Christmas/Holiday
• New Year's
• St. Patrick's Day.

Each of these five pucks comes with a tax receipt and certificate of authenticity. There are limited quantities.
