The Master Bath - Your De-Stress Zone
What's the one room Mom can go in the house for a little peace and quiet? Chances are, it's the master bath. This retreat-at-home can be a special place, no matter what the budget. Here's how.
1. Choose colors carefully.
Color choice can be very emotional. Oranges and yellows are very stimulating, and can actually increase the heart rate in very large doses.
Blues, indigos, and violets tend to be soothing. Greens can go either way, depending on whether they are blue or yellow based.
Not sure about painting the room? Stay neutral, and add some accent pieces using a color theme.
Choose towels, pictures, and decorative accents within the same color family.

2. Add candlelight.
Lavender, peppermint, or citrus candles add relaxing or invigorating scents, while candlelight creates a soothing mood. Even a few candles can add a big effect - and double as decorative details during the day.
3. Delight the eye.
Just a few pretty bottles of lotion or bubbles, a picture frame or two, and some greenery or fresh flowers can make a big difference. Big craft stores like Michael's and AC Moore offer accent greenery at great prices.
4. Daily "To Do"
A special basket or drawer can be set aside for the things that make a big difference in your day.
Add vitamins, lotion, special scents, and a favorite book. Take a few minutes, and start or end your day on a positive note.
As a mom, I know it's the little things that make a big difference. No matter what your master bath looks like, a few low-cost details can make your day.
