TheOpenLook.com is a newer Raleigh Open House website that is becoming better known.

- Features a map with each open house highlighted.

- Features up to 8 photos for each home.

- Features a printable directions sheet for each home (don't have to worry about contacting someone to get directions!)

New Raleigh area open homes are often updated as late as Friday, so check back Friday afternoons to plan your open house visits for the weekend. 

2.  Craigslist.com - Where to Find Open Homes in Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill!

Craigslist.com is a popular place for local agents to post open homes.  Just search for "Open House" in the search field, and you'll pull up everything planned for the weekend.

- Many open houses feature flyers with lots of details and photos.

- Can search by city within the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area.

- Scroll down to the bottom of each posting, and you'll find a link for a Google Map to help find the home. 

3.  Raleigh.Backpage.com - Where to Find Open Homes in Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill!

Raleigh.Backpage.com offers information on Open Houses in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area.

While not quite as popular as Craig's List, there are often different postings on this site. 

- search by "open house", price point, or location.

- scroll to bottom of posting to get Google or Yahoo map location. 

- often includes photos or full flyers.

Up and coming sites:

Zillow.com and Trulia.com have both recently added Open House search capabilities.  Agents are just starting to post open homes there.  Based on the popularity of these sites, the volume of open homes may increase soon!

Stanton Homes offers information on Energy Star certification, rainwater collection, and geothermal systems - and teaches homebuyers how to build a home that costs less and uses less energy. 

Triangle home builder Stanton Homes is hosting a special "Meet the Builder" event.

Sunday September 21st

12-4pm

Custom home builder and licensed general contractor Stan Williams will be on site to answer questions on the latest energy and water saving technology, and how these features can be integrated into a new home.

Homebuyers are encouraged to attend no matter where they are in the process: whether they are planning ahead for a retirement home, just starting to think about purchasing a new home, or have already decided on a floor plan, a location, or both.    

"You can never ask too many questions, and there is no ‘dumb' question," said Williams.  "We believe that the more a homebuyer knows, the better their decisions will be, the more money they will save when purchasing a new home - and the happier they'll be with that home."

If a homebuyer has chosen a home plan, or even narrowed down their choices to several plans from an online catalog or guide, Williams and his team will go over the possibilities and features of each, including giving recommendations on how to save on building costs. 

"Saving money goes along with saving water and energy," said Williams.  "Sometimes there are simple changes that can make a big difference.  We're happy to point out the types of features that you might not realize add a lot of cost - and how to get the same or a similar effect for less." 

The Stanton Homes team will also go over the details of how to save water and energy when buying a new home.  

Saving Water in the Raleigh Area:  Rainwater Collection

Rainwater collection systems, while immensely popular in areas like Hawaii that don't have good freshwater sources, are beginning to gain ground in other areas as water resources have more demand placed on them.   There are a variety of systems available, and Stanton Homes will go over what makes each effective - and what the cost differences are. 

Saving Energy: Energy Star Certified New Homes

Stanton Homes will present information on what it is that helps an Energy Star home save 15-20% in energy costs over a home built according to standard building code, and what kind of price tag Energy Star certification has attached to it.  

Saving Money and the Environment: Better Heating and Cooling

Better building methods and a tighter home means energy savings - which means that monthly gas or electric bill is quite a bit lower.  In addition, Stanton Homes will offer information on other energy saving and green building initiatives, like geothermal systems for heating and cooling.

Or email your plan to Stanton Homes at least 4 days in advance to info@StantonHomes.com, and a Stanton Homes representative will go over an initial estimate with you at the event.

Raleigh, NC - Meet-the-Builder, "One Neighbor to Another," at a question-and-answer forum hosted by Stanton Homes on Sunday, September 21, from noon to 4pm at 680 Rebecca Lane in Cattail Creek, just northwest of Pittsboro in Chatham County.

"This is a conversation opportunity for people who aren't sure where to start with their custom home projects," said Stan Williams, CEO of Stanton Homes.  "It's all about you - and the questions you have about new construction or remodeling process and procedures - from the point-of-view of your local custom home builder."

"One Neighbor to Another" Meet-the-Builder topics typically touch on these kinds of questions:
