The Walk to Defeat ALS
The Triangle's annual Walk to Defeat ALS will be held on April 2, 2011 at the Credit Suisse Campus in the Research Triangle Park.
What is ALS?
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, effecting muscle control and movement.
What is the ALS Association?
The ALS Association is a nation-wide non-profit organization fighting Lou Gehrig's Disease through research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy.
What should you know about the Triangle Walk to Defeat ALS?
- Walk Check in is at 9am
- Walk Start Time is 10am
- The Walk is 2 miles, completely wheelchair accessible
- Participants can sign up as a team, join an existing team, or join as an individual
- The Walk is FREE, but donations are welcome. The goal for 2011 is to raise $875,000.
- Prize programs are in place for those who participate and raise $200 or more in donations
- There will be food, drinks, and events for all ages throughout the morning
