The Fly Fishing Show,  owned by Chuck Furimsky, has moved from Charlotte to Raleigh this year. The show has plenty to offer for fishing fans of all skill levels, and there will be name-drawing door prizes worth $1000's in trips and equipment.

 The show will be at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds on January 29th and 30th, 2011.

What NASCAR Events are in the Raleigh area?

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) at the Charlotte Motor Speedway is a popular destination for sports fans.

• The Charlotte Motor Speedway, completed in 1959, sells out the 165,000 available seats
• NASCAR races are usually weekend-long events, with trailer-friendly grounds at the Speedway

Charlotte hosts three NASCAR national series

• The Sprint Cup Series
• The Nationwide Series
• The Camping World Truck Series

Each of these series will occur at least once at the Charlotte Speedway in May and October 2011. The Coca-Cola 600 is held at the Charlotte Speedway, and will occur on May 29, 2011.

Dale Earnhardt, a 2010 Hall of Fame Inductee, won a record seven NASCAR Sprint Cup Championships.

Charlotte is also home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame "Where the Race Lives On."

The Hall of Fame is a 150,000-square-foot building with approximately 40,000 square feet of exhibit space.  The high-tech exhibits and interactive attractions are designed to both educate and entertain. The Hall of Fame contains:

What Professional Baseball Teams are in the Raleigh area?

Professional baseball teams in the Raleigh area are popular for their athleticism, family-friendly atmosphere, kid-oriented activities, special event nights, and much more.

Here's some quick facts about the Raleigh area's baseball teams - from your Raleigh relocation information resource. 

Carolina Mudcats Baseball

The Carolina Mudcats are a Minor League baseball team in Zebulon, NC. The Mudcats' Five County Stadium is located about 30 minutes East of Raleigh.

Carolina Mudcats games are kid-friendly, and a good way to introduce your children to professional sports in a fun, easy-going atmosphere.  There are always post-game fireworks following Friday home games, and Muddy the Mudcat, the Mudcats mascot, is present at every game.

There are several nights throughout the season designed for child and student participation:

• Education Day: Schools, classes, and daycares are invited
• Scout Campout: scouts, family members, and friends are invited for an autograph session, dinner, pre-game ceremony on the field, game, movie on the game boards, camping, and a tour of the stadium
• Girl Scout Night: discounted box seat tickets can be purchased by Girl Scouts
• Day at the Ballpark: Muddy hosts daycare centers

Adult tickets can be purchased for as low as $6 each. Ticket for children 4 to 6 years old are $3 and children 3 and under are free.

The Mudcats will begin their 21st season with an opening game against the Mobile Bay Bears on Thursday April 7, 2011.

Durham Bulls Baseball

The Durham Bulls are a Triple-A minor league team, and an affiliate to the Tampa Bay Rays MLB team. The Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP) is located in downtown Durham about 30 minutes from Raleigh. The DBAP was designed for up-close seating for as many fans as possible with single-level seating that wraps the entire field.

A Durahm Bulls game is great for a family or group outing, with several private picnic areas for reserve. Stadium and lawn seating is available. Friday night home games always feature fireworks. 

Kids under five can enjoy Wool E's World, a free playground located at the Right Field corner.

The Durham Bulls host several special game-day events throughout the season, including:

• Education Day
  • Students can register for a chance to interview the players on the field before the game
  • Learning stations are set up
  • Teachers and students can compete in on-field activities
• Field of Dreams
  • Little league teams can register to take the field with the Durham Bulls

The Carolina Hurricanes - Raleigh's Own Stanley Cup-Winning NHL Team

The Carolina Hurricanes is a professional ice hockey team playing in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The team moved to North Carolina in 1997 from Hartford, CT, where they were known as the Whalers.

Only eight years later, the Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup, ice hockey's highest award.

In the 2006-2007 season (the year after the NHL Lockout), the Hurricanes beat the Edmonton Oilers in seven games to win the Stanley Cup.

This was the first major professional sports title for a North Carolina team.

The Hurricanes continue to be successful, regularly finishing in the top three teams in the division.

You can buy Hurricanes tickets for a wide range of prices, from featured discount tickets at around $20 dollars to premium seats at well over $100.

Games are weekends and weeknights, and the regular season lasts from October through April, with playoffs going to the beginning of June.

The Hurricanes are less than half an hour away from every city in the Triangle. Durham, Raleigh, Cary, Apex, and even Holly Springs all have direct access to Hurricanes games down major highways.

If you are a hockey fan looking to relocate in North Carolina, then the Triangle is far and away the best option.

Just a few days ago, the Hurricanes and the RBC Center were chosen to host the 2011 NHL All-Star Game. This honor recognizes the growing popularity of the sport in the South.

Hurricanes fans, known as "Caniacs", often hold tailgating parties before games, an unusual sight for ice hockey games, as most teams are in the north and games are mostly in the winter months (credit North Carolina's mild winter weather).

The Hurricanes home ice is the RBC Center, located just off of I-440 in Raleigh, NC.

The arena seats 18,176 people for Hurricanes games, and features all the amenities of a modern sports stadium: bars, food, gift shops, etc.

In addition to Hurricanes games, the RBC center features NC State Basketball and concerts throughout the year.
