Raleigh/Triangle Pharmacy Schools
Even with all of the headlines of job shortages across the country, there will always be some fields that are always hiring. Right now, it is estimated that the need for pharmacists is expected to grow by 22 percent through the year 2016. Earning an average of $48.31 an hour back in 2007, most pharmacists make a six-figure salary, many times right out of pharmacy school.
Here are two local schools in the Raleigh area, where you can earn your Doctor of Pharmacy degree. The program takes about six years of college education, usually two years of undergraduate work and four years in a professional setting depending on the requirements in your area.
University of North Carolina - Eshelman School of Pharmacy
One of the leading institutions of pharmacy education and research in the world and rated number one in Kiplinger's Personal Finance four consecutive times, Eshelman School of Pharmacy at UNC offers several programs.
Including but not limited to; PharmD, where you can obtain your pharmacist license, PhD's for pharmaceutical research as well as postgraduate and continuing education programs to keep current pharmacists up-to-date with the most recent practices and information. For contact information, how to apply to the PharmD program and dates for information sessions click here.
Eshelman enrolls about 140 students a year and tuition costs are about the same as a standard degree program at UNC starting at about $15,000 for the year.
Campbell University, School of Pharmacy
Campbell University is the only school in the nation to feature a joint PharmD/MSCR (Master of Science in Clinical Research) degree. Also, you can take advantage of the unique chance of earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree while earning a master's degree in another field such as Business Administration or Clinical Research.

Other programs offered are Undergraduate, Pre-Pharmacy, PharmD, MSCR, Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Science and Master of Physician Assistant Studies.
Enrolling only about 100 students per year, it's hard to get into Campbell University, so make sure to turn in your application early for the best chance of acceptance.
