What NASCAR Events are in the Raleigh area?
NASCAR On-Line
The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) at the Charlotte Motor Speedway is a popular destination for sports fans.
- The Charlotte Motor Speedway, completed in 1959, sells out the 165,000 available seats
- NASCAR races are usually weekend-long events, with trailer-friendly grounds at the Speedway
Charlotte hosts three NASCAR national series
- The Sprint Cup Series
- The Nationwide Series
- The Camping World Truck Series
Each of these series will occur at least once at the Charlotte Speedway in May and October 2011. The Coca-Cola 600 is held at the Charlotte Speedway, and will occur on May 29, 2011.
Dale Earnhardt, a 2010 Hall of Fame Inductee, won a record seven NASCAR Sprint Cup Championships.
NASCAR Hall of Fame
Charlotte is also home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame "Where the Race Lives On."
The Hall of Fame is a 150,000-square-foot building with approximately 40,000 square feet of exhibit space. The high-tech exhibits and interactive attractions are designed to both educate and entertain. The Hall of Fame contains:
- NASCAR artifacts
- A 278-person state-of-the-art theater
- The Hall of Honor
- A restaurant (Buffalo Wild Wings)
- A cafe
- A gift store
- A broadcast studio
Open: Daily 10am-6pm, except on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas

- Child: $12.95
