The National Park Service has just announced three special "fee-free" weekends this year at 147 national parks and monuments
June 20-21
July 18-19
August 15-16
There are some terrific national parks and monuments within easy driving distance of the Raleigh Triangle area of North Carolina. These parks, memorials, and monuments will all have entrance fees waived during these special weekends:

We just went up in fees at a couple of parks here . It is sad becaus ethey would not let me in, camera in had to take some pictures to blog about them

Charlie - Sounds like it would be good to take advantage of the free weekends. I know there are also some parks that are free on weekdays only.
