Pending Home Sales Rise for 5th Straight Month
Resales Rise for 3rd Straight Month - Best Since July 2003!
It appears the worst is over, both nationally and locally, for the housing market. Good news for anyone relocating or even looking for a move-up home.
According to today's news:
- Pending Home Sales in June rose 3.6 percent to 94.6, for a fifth consecutive month of gains.
- Last time we saw five consecutive months of increases was July 2003.
- Home resales increased 4% in June, and rose for the third month in a row (first time in 5 years).
In the South, pending home sales jumped 7.1 in June, for a total of 100.7.
Of course real estate does vary regionally, and prices can vary considerably throughout the Triangle. But it does appear that the bottom of the real estate market has come.....and gone.

Penny, we're seeing some price increases in some segments of the market. Many of those that were waiting for the bottom may soon be out of the market and not-qualify.
We are seeing some price increases as well down here in Clermont Florida. I actually just did a blog showing that even though the sold price isn't higher in a particular subdivision, that subdivision has seen an increase in the sold price per sq. ft.
Gabe - we've seen AVERAGE prices go down, but not necessarily due to price reductions, more because of an increase in first time homebuyers, thus more "lower price" homes selling, while luxury home financing is harder to obtain.
