Butler's Pantries - New Home Trends
Top Requests in New Homes - Storage Solutions
What, exactly, is a butler's pantry? One formal definition says "A serving and storage area between the dining room and kitchen." Today we'll show you how it can be much more - and can even be located in a few other convenient areas!
For anyone who ever wished for a little more storage space in the kitchen, or a place to keep the good china where it can actually be reached, a butler's pantry is the perfect storage solution.

A Butler's Pantry can generally be found in between the Kitchen and the Formal Dining Room.
Butler's Pantries make great use of small hallways, particularly around staircases.

A Butlers Pantry can also be tucked in an alcove off the dining room itself.
The Butlers Pantry can include decorative shelves or display areas, plate racks, wine racks, stem glass holders, and more.

Crown moulding, decorative hardware, and countertops all add to the appeal of a butler's pantry.

Butlers Pantries can be simple or more complex.
Cabinetry can either match the kitchen, or contrast for more texture and color.
A butler's pantry usually offers some countertop space that matches the countertops found in the kitchen.
Glass doors can be very appealing in a Butlers Pantry.

A butlers pantry can be simple or ornate, depending on the price point of the home.
Larger homes have room for extensive butlers pantries, with tiers of drawers and cabinetry.
A butlers pantry can be given the same status as a treasured piece of furniture, a china hutch or china cabinet.

Luxury homes sometimes feature extensive butlers pantries, with built in wet bars, premium wine coolers, and much more.
Luxury butler pantries are often created from scratch by custom cabinet makers.

Penny,
You are right Butler's Pantries are a great answer for extra storage. I do see it as a new home trend. Many of my buyers get very excited when they find a home with one!
Yes, butler pantries are great and coming back into style
Dorie - It's one of our top requests! Very few floor plans include a butler's pantry, but we've been able to add one (sometimes very creatively) every time it's wanted.
Debbie - Today's new homes are all about storage and better use of space. What better place to store all the holiday items, the candles, the china and crystal than in this dedicated location.
I want one!
I'm in love!
Jamie and Mike - just let us know where you want it! The home can be cozy or expansive - if there isn't a butler pantry in the plan, we'll adjust the layout to add one in your new home...
