Raleigh/Cary Area Top in Nation for Expected Job Growth
More Raleigh area companies are expecting to hire new employees during the second quarter of 2010, according to an in depth quarterly survey by Manpower, an industry leader for staffing.
The survey shows that 18 percent of Raleigh-Cary area companies plan to add workers in the second quarter (March to June), while only 2 percent plan to decrease staffs, for a net gain of 16 percent.
This is up from 13 percent of companies that expected to hire during the first quarter of the year.
The Raleigh area ranks number 5 nationally, out of the 201 metro areas surveyed for each report.
Overall, Manpower respondants expected to grow payrolls by 5 percent, which compares very positively to a year ago, when they planned to cut payrolls by 2 percent.
The Raleigh area is expecting more than three times the growth of the national average. Anchorage Alaska and Burlington Vermont both came in first, at 22 percent expected growth. Raleigh ties for fifth place with vo, Utah, Loredo, Texas, and Milwaukee.

Hi Penny, I am glad your area is seeing this job growth...hopefully it will span into other parts of the country.
Penny,
It's just a matter of time that the demands that were built up in the recession are released. We continue to see signs and indicators pointing towards economic growth.
