Falls River Books - Small Business with a Big Impact
Used and Rare Books and Great Atmosphere
Love to read? Looking for a new friend, or a quiet place to enjoy a great book? You'll find everything you're looking for at Falls River Books in Raleigh.
"If there's something you really want to do, do it now," says Steven Elliot, owner of Falls River Books. "My family always said they'd love to own a bookstore 'someday'."
Twenty years ago, Steven decided someday was today.
After owning two successful bookstores in Florida, Steven knew that Raleigh was where he wanted his daughter to grow up.
He moved to the Raleigh area, and opened Falls River Books in Raleigh, located in the Falls River Town Center.
"The Raleigh economy is very good for entrepeneurs," said Steven. "For people who are willing to take a few risks, Raleigh is the right place to start a business. Our goal is to be very involved in the community, and we can do that here."
Falls River Books isn't just a bookstore, it's an experience.
With woodgrain floors, comfortable chairs, and shelves full of rare books AND popular author's latest new releases, Falls River Books is the place to go to find just what you have in mind.
Most books are at least 50% off list price, and books cost even less if with the trade program.
Steven Elliot and the entire team are focused on making their community a better place to live, starting one book at a time. Here are just a few of the wonderful things Falls River Books is involved in:
Operation Paperback - Falls River Books
Operation Paperback collects gently used books for our troops serving overseas. Our Armed Forces servicemembers are very glad to escape into a good book at the end of the day when they are serving far from home. Purchase a book for Operation Paperback from Falls River Books, and they'll ship it to Afghanistan, Iraq, or other places where servicemembers are stationed.
North Raleigh Farmers Market
Falls River Books is actively involved in the non-profit North Raleigh Farmers Market. Steven does all the website work for this community resource, and his Durham store manager also serves as the Farmers Market manager. Stop by and pick up some local produce from more than 20 area farms.
Sweet Tea Cafe
Local farmer's market products and fresh, healthy foods are tough to find at the mall. But this fall, Sweet Tea Cafe will be opening in Northgate Mall, next to the indoor train. Guests will enjoy seating, terrific freshly prepared local foods, and even a community table for meetings and parties.
Visit Falls River Books today. And tell Steven thanks for doing a fabulous job!
