Halloween 2011 in Raleigh
For some, the crisp Fall air in Raleigh means pumpkins and corn mazes. For others, it's delightfully scary, with thrills and chills inside and out. Here are some of the "scariest" ways to enjoy the Halloween season in the Raleigh Triangle area!
Raleigh Halloween Haunted Houses 2011
Clayton Fear Farm - Haunted Hayride, Haunted House

Open through Oct. 31 on select nights, click for schedule.
Admission to one attraction is $12; combination of attractions is $25.
The only Halloween scream park in the Triangle, features total of 7 different attractions, including a haunted hayride, haunted houses, Seymour's House of Dreams Haunted 3-D Adventure, the Fear Farm Academy, a spinning Black Hole and haunted 10-acre corn maze. Non-haunted corn maze and attractions open select times through Oct. 31 as well.
Darkside Haunted Estates - Haunted House and Trail

Open through Oct. 31 on Friday and Saturday nights, 7-10 p.m.
Admission is $15 for adults; $10 for children 12 and under.
Haunted house and trail - "abandoned asylum". There is also a "low-scare" night for the younger set on Oct. 30th, 5-7 p.m., which includes carnival games, face painting, popcorn and trick-or-treating.
Durham Jaycees - Annual Haunted House

See website for hours and dates. One "family day," when children can tour a toned-down version of the haunted house.

Haunted Trolley Tours are on October 22, 28, and 29
Haunted Lantern Tour is on Oct 29 5-10pm; Haunted Mordecai free festival is Oct 29 5-10pm. Admission for trolley tours is $10.
Special late night Haunted Trolley Tours, visiting Raleigh's most haunted places with special stop at City Cemetery. Registration required.
Haunted Twilight Tour of Downtown Cary - Haunted Tours

Admission varies by event. Tick or treating, pumpkin painting, hayride shuttle, clay pumpkin carving, "not-so-scary story telling", and the Fright School's Haunted House. Preregistration is required.
Historical Ghost Walk - Riverside Cemetery in Smithfield
Riverside Cemetery, corner of South Second and Church Streets, Smithfield

Friday Oct. 28, 5-8p.m. Call for ticket prices. This historical ghost walk will tour the Riverside Cemetery in small groups, while costumed re-enactors tell stories of historical characters who are permanent residents.
Oakwood Lantern Walk

Admission is $6 for ages 11 and up; $3 ages 6-11. Oct. 29, 6-10 p.m.
Historical emphasis rather than frights. Tour groups wander on a luminary-lined path in the Confederate section of the cemetery and watch historical vignettes, led by ladies in period dresses carrying candles. Refreshments served in House of Memory at end of tour.

Admission is $17.
Haunted Halloween theme park just north of Falls Lake. Creeps haunt the scary, dark woods of Creedmoor, ages 10 and up.
